James Wilson Killed in accident

12th November 1834

On Wednesday, as James Wilson, waggoner to Mr. Foster, of Woodhouse Mill, was returning from Sheffield with his waggon loaded with bones, he was riding on the shafts.

When near 12 o'clock, he fell forwards and the wheels passed over him foot to head, crushing, in their course, his brains dreadfully.

He had filled his situation creditably for several years and was much respected.

Thus another has been added to the long list of persons whose lives have been sacrificed by the dangerous practice of riding on the shafts of waggons.
